God’s desire to be close

and intimate with us

James 4:7-8 (KJV)
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

The deeper… the more intimate…. the more genuine…. the more real your relationship is with God …. the more the devil is fearful of you.

Christianity is not about a weekly trip to church, we  must move beyond that. How many times have we ask people: Are you a Christian? How many times have we received the answer…. I go to church!!!!

Well that does not tell us much.

The Question is:

Are you in love with Jesus?

Is Jesus your Savior and the Lord of your life?

Genesis 3:8-10 (KJV)
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

The reason that the man hid was because there was now sin in his life, but note that God was walking in the Garden. The conclusion we are left with, he was doing that because he wanted  to be in relationship with Adam the man he had created.

It seems to be God’s pattern to make a step toward us and if we respond, He takes another and draws close to us.

I believe there are two keys…. to a close intimate relationship with

God.

The first key is Truth

Are there areas of your life that you are holding on to … that you have not given to God?

He must be first in everything

The Second key is Time

I will tell you right now… If you do not put the time in… you will be wishing for …. and will never receive… an intimate relationship with God.

Intimacy develops as a result of close contact with someone over a period of time.

  • trust is built

  • confidence grows

  • the heart changes

  • you becoming endeared to one another
